The Moria Creator
On July 15, in the United States, at the age of 64, programmer Robert Alan Koeneke, who in 1983 released the game Moria, one of the first roguelikes in the industry, died. The funeral of the legend will be held on July 23 in Texas.
The idea for Moria came to Koeneke while studying at the University of Oklahoma. The game takes place in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe. The gamer will be able to choose the race of the protagonist at the beginning, and subsequently, explore the huge underground city of Moria.
The rooms in the catacombs are randomly generated. Players search for equipment and fight monsters in an attempt to get to the lowest level and defeat the Balrog. There are no graphics in the game from the word at all.
It is known that Moria inspired the developers of Diablo to create a title. The latest version of the 5.6 roguelikes was released in October 2008.
Bright Memory: Infinite
The IGN publication published on its YouTube channel 8 minutes of gameplay of the Bright Memory: Infinite shooter, recorded on the Xbox Series X in 4K / 60FPS and with ray tracing enabled.
The video shows dynamic battles with crowds of opponents and a bunch of visual effects. Another journalist showed the process of improving the skills of the heroine. At the end of the video, a boss fight with Emperor Tian Yu is shown.
Bright Memory: Infinite is set in a futuristic metropolis in 2036. The game is a first-person shooter in which the main character has a lot of tricks and skills, and close combat is an important component.
Bright Memory: Infinite was released on PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch yesterday, and the shooter has been available on PC since November last year. On Steam, the game has mostly positive reviews, but on Metacritic, the opinions of journalists and players differed.
World Of Warcraft: Wrath of The Lich King
Blizzard mistakenly published the release date for the classic Wrath of the Lich King add-on for the legendary World of Warcraft. Perhaps players will be able to return to the same WoW as early as September 26th. At least that’s what it said on the World of Warcraft Classic website, but the picture was quickly removed.
The beta version of the game has been going on since June, so the release is really close. Many players believe that the peak of World of Warcraft was just at the time of the release of Wrath of the Lich King. This is the second major expansion for the most famous MMORPG in history.
Perhaps Blizzard will even end the development of the classic World of Warcraft on this add-on, but everything can still change.
Two versions of World of Warcraft are now available, the classic Burning Crusade and the current Shadowlands.
Farthest Frontier
The network began to publish gameplay and a preview of the city-building strategy Farthest Frontier about the development of a medieval settlement. Judging by the video from IGN, we are waiting for a game with a lot of complex systems. Responsible for the development of Crate Entertainment, known for Grim Dawn.
In the game, a lot of attention will need to be paid to the little things. For example, the same types of plants cannot be grown on the same land – the soil deteriorates. By winter, a lot of food also rots, so special storage facilities and competent management of growing various types of crops are needed.
All this adds up to other complex systems: construction, resource extraction, bandit raids, and much more. It will probably be one of the most comprehensive strategies in recent years.
You can take a closer look at the game in the video below. Three hours of starting gameplay.
